Our Pet Policy

We realize that our pets are part of the family. Sea Urchins welcomes well-behaved pets, primarily dogs, to vacation with their people.  In return, we ask that pet owners take extra care to clean up after their furry friends, and do their best to remove all trace of their pets from the property upon departure.  We also ask that barking be kept at a minimum out of courtesy to our neighbors and other island inhabitants.

North Captiva does have a leash law which, also as a courtesy, we ask dog owners to respect.  There are some remote beaches (the State land on the south end of the island), where your dog can frolic off leash and not disturb others, and Sea Urchins has a large property (over one acre) where your dog can be supervised off leash.  Sea Urchins’ property extends all the way into the water along the beach side, so your dog can play along the shore, and in the water, and still be on private land.  Sea Urchins also has a large fenced in deck area by the pool and under the house that pets and people can enjoy together.  Also, the expansive elevated deck that overlooks Pine Island Sound is a favorite place for families and their canine pals to hang out and enjoy the salty breezes and water views.

Please note that there is a $150 pet fee charge.

Sorry, but due to the high number of humans with allergies to cats, Sea Urchins does not allow felines to vacation on the property.  Our apologies to our cat friends!
